Measurement

 MPI Day 6- Measurement

Today I have continued to build on my foundations of the last 5 sessions.

As part of my teaching practice, I have established a structured classroom system of checking for understanding around Mathematical Vocabulary. This has been valuable as the students are now clarifying before moving forward with vocab and concepts.

It has been a valuable class journey taking the time to learn, to use and investigate tools that help us to understand and build a better understanding of the mathematical concepts we are learning.

Today through the amazing resources and explanations I have taken away the importance of rich real life learning in relation to measurement. So many times I wrote down the word VOCAB and the importance of using, defining and understanding the vocab that we are using in the classroom and in real life so that the children can connect to the learning.

I will be using more 'I Wonder' and 'Number strings' to further develop understanding and to also broaden the learning opportunities for all students in the class through participation and being involved in discussions. I am inspired by the variety of interactive games, manipulatives and activities that can be woven into our mathematical journey.
